Sixth grade students in Ms. Wells’ STEM class were asked “How can we provide a safe, efficient, and temporary source of electricity to a remote area?”
Each group was assigned a location and a disaster. Next, students designed portable power prototypes to demonstrate their solution. Here is a peek at the process.

📚 Every two weeks, students at Snyder Junior High visit the library during their English class. They are able to pick out two books each. If you have a student at the junior high, ask about the books they are reading!
Independent reading improves comprehension for students and helps them develop their vocabulary. We are fortunate to have an inspiring library space at SJH with a variety of books for students to choose from!

Update: The structures have been tested! These are the structures that were able to hold 5 pounds and were at least 9 inches long. If they didn't make the cut, students will be able to make modifications and try again today. Trial and error is a fundamental method of problem-solving!

🌊 Snyder Junior High School STEM students are designing structures to transport people over water during a flood. Some students have chosen to build bridges, while others are building boats. We will find out Friday if they are effective!

End of the school year = a lot of time sensitive information. Although we do use social media to share and celebrate with our community, we primarily use ParentSquare and StudentSquare/school email to communicate important, time-sensitive information with our parents, guardians, staff, and students.
According to our records, we have a 96% contactability rate; in other words, we are successfully reaching 96% of our parents, students, & staff through ParentSquare, through either text, email, or the app. ParentSquare pulls from Skyward, our student management system - so accurate information is important.
📱If have had a change in your phone number or email, give your child's campus a call and they will be glad to help!
If you are having issues with ParentSquare, you can also review our ParentSquare troubleshooting section for tips and tricks, FAQs, and more! https://www.snyderisd.net/page/parentsquareparents
You are always welcome to call your child's campus or Valerie in the Admin Office for help too!

Don't forget! Friday, April 15th is a student and staff holiday. Enjoy your three day weekend!
