On Wednesday, January 16, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Snyder ISD School Board members received an email containing specific threats against the district. The Snyder Police Department was immediately contacted, and multiple law enforcement agencies began investigating the situation.
Throughout the night, law enforcement officers and school administration worked to investigate the threat. However, it was determined that there was not enough time or information to confidently issue an all-clear before the start of school. Consequently, the superintendent canceled classes for Thursday, January 16, 2025, to allow law enforcement to investigate and ensure campus safety thoroughly.
Overnight, law enforcement personnel conducted an initial sweep of all campuses, monitoring activity and performing exterior and interior checks. This morning, additional officers, along with Snyder ISD Central Office and campus leadership, conducted a more thorough search and reviewed security monitoring systems across all campuses.
The investigation involves local law enforcement, the FBI, and Homeland Security. According to the Snyder Police Department, current evidence leads to an out-of-state person of interest. While we are unable to share additional details at this time to avoid compromising the ongoing investigation, we can assure you that law enforcement officials have worked diligently to secure our schools.
At this time, we are confident in confirming that there is no active security threat to any Snyder ISD campus. We have been given the all-clear to resume all on-campus activities beginning this afternoon and school, on Friday. You can expect an increased law enforcement presence on campuses as an additional precaution.
We will continue to prioritize safety and work closely with authorities to ensure the well-being of our students, staff, and community. Thank you for your patience and trust during this process.
