Janis Rinehart Brown
Janis Rinehart, a 1962 Snyder High graduate, was the first female to win the 100-year dash at the Texas Relays in 1963, while competing for the Texas Track Club. She won it a second time in 1966.
Janis played volleyball and was also a cheerleader at SHS.
She received a scholarship from Lubbock Christian College and served as a cheerleader for LCC, as well.
In 1964, Janis was on the cover of "Sports Illustrated" when the Texas Track Club was featured in a story about the upcoming U.S. Olympic trials. She also participated in the Olympic trials in 1960 and 1968. She placed 4th in the hurdles in 1968.
