Ned Underwood
Ned Underwood, a 1953 graduate of SHS was a member of the first team to win a district basketball championship, captain of both the football and basketball teams, and was president of his senior class.
After high school, Ned attended Texas Tech University on a basketball scholarship – a first for a Snyder athlete. Ned started for Tech every year and helped the Red Raiders win three championships.
Coach Underwood became Snyder’s head basketball coach in 1962. His last team set a school winning record of 23-5.
Ned continued working for the school district as a teacher and assistant principal until his retirement in 1991.
