Speedy Moffett
James “Speedy” Moffett came to Snyder in 1949 as the head football coach and athletic director.
He resigned as athletic director and football coach in 1953 to teach history and start Snyder High School’s baseball program. He was also instrumental in starting Snyder’s Little League baseball program.
For the next 24 years, Coach Moffett’s baseball teams won 13 district championships and 4 regional crowns.
Upon his retirement in 1976, his teams had won a total of 474 games, a record at that time.
Coach Moffett was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Hall of Honor in 1983.
