Update from the Superintendent

I am writing to inform you of a significant development regarding the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) accountability ratings. As you may have heard, a Travis County judge has temporarily blocked the TEA from releasing the 2023-2024 A-F annual school ratings. The ruling was issued on Monday evening (8/12) after finding that the state’s new rating system — which was set to debut this fall — is, “unlawful and would harm districts across the state.”

This decision comes after dozens of school districts filed lawsuits against the TEA. These districts argued that the state's new evaluation methodology would lead to unfair drops in their ratings. TEA has announced its intention to appeal the ruling, and a trial date has been set for February 12th, 2025.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available. Although this delay is inconvenient, it does not affect our instructional plans. Although this delay is certainly inconvenient, it does not impact the strategies we implemented over the summer or our plans to continue delivering high-quality instruction that yields academic results. We remain fully committed to forging ahead with our educational goals and providing the best possible learning environment for our students.

If you have any questions or require further details, please feel free to reach out to me. Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to our district.

Sincerely,

Bob Rauch
