Let's give a 👏👏👏 to the 5th grade SCIENCE GOAL GETTERS!
At Snyder Intermediate School, part of our vision is to celebrate academic excellence and goals to provide a roadmap to student success. We believe all students can grow, no matter their academic level.
Goal Getters are recognized after each unit test. Teachers set goals for students based on their previous year's STAAR performance to give students a target for growth. Students learn the importance of setting goals and the work required to meet them.
Daily assignments and exit tickets provide a window into day-to-day understanding, but unit tests provide a deeper perspective of comprehension and retention. Ask your child about their goals. Be sure to look beyond the overall letter grade and regularly check your child's test grades in Skyward.
Together, we can help your child achieve their best. As always, reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Ms. Beltran's 5th grade science classes worked in groups to build circuits to show the flow of electrical energy in a closed circuit. Students assembled circuits using wires, a switch, a battery, and a light bulb. Students even got to see what type of energy was produced when a motor and buzzer were added to the circuit!
Mr. Miller and Mrs. Solis' classes had the best attendance for the first grading cycle at Snyder Intermediate School. They were treated to a pizza party in their classrooms. Great job, students and parents!

The entire family is welcome!
Why all this talk about attendance? Studies show that chronic absences — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school.
Attendance has improved overall this year over last year - great news! This week, we had 94.53% of students in attendance at school! That means we have about 132 students absent each day.
This week's statistics:
Snyder Primary: 94.73%
Snyder Intermediate: 96.95%
Snyder Junior High: 95.30%
Snyder High School 92.55%
Unfortunately, high school attendance has decreased slightly compared to the previous year, with about 9% of juniors and seniors missing school each day. In high school, attendance is crucial, as students who are absent for more than 10% of the time may face the risk of not graduating.
We're taking a strong stance on attendance this year because attendance matters. Students are more likely to succeed in academics when they attend school consistently.
If you have not read our updated attendance policy, need clarification on exempt vs. nonexempt absences, or need help submitting an absence note, visit our attendance page: www.snyderisd.net/attendance.
Thanks again to our parents, students, teachers, and staff. Keep up the GREAT work, and we will see you on Monday (remember, no school this Friday, September 29th!).
