Snyder High School students in the Culinary Arts Program catered the meal for the January Board of Trustees meeting!
On the menu were enchiladas with rice and beans, sopapilla cheesecake, horchata, and iced tea.
The Culinary Arts Program of study introduces CTE learners to careers and educational opportunities in planning, directing, and coordinating activities in the foodservice industry. As part of the Hospitality and Tourism career pathway, students also learn communication, time management, and customer service skills.

🌊 Ms. Terry’s Kindergarten class has been learning about ocean adaptations. Students experienced the insulating properties of blubber with this fun experiment! Not only does blubber insulate heat, it stores energy, and increases buoyancy.

🍕Do you think about Language Arts lessons while eating pizza? Mrs. Jones' kindergarten class is learning about the main ideas of texts and supporting evidence. In this lesson, the main idea is the whole pizza and the details are the pizza toppings. The class made mini pizzas after reading a story to reiterate the main ideas and evidence in the book. This is just one of the many examples of how our talented teachers make learning meaningful and fun!

This morning, we were able to celebrate SPS students who have shown growth this semester! Each teacher nominated two students from their classrooms for us to cheer on. The whole school was invited to celebrate each student and their growth. We are thankful for our students and their hard work! ❤️
Students in Mrs. Jamison’s class at Snyder Intermediate School have been working on their math facts and division problems. In this activity, each student would pull a card and they had to beat their teammate by solving the math fact or a division problem. The player who answered first and correctly kept the cards played. The player with the most cards at the end won a small prize.
Snyder Junior High School was well represented at the UIL Academic Competition in Big Spring yesterday!

Mr. Escobedo's Automotive classes had the opportunity to tour Blake Fulenwider today and speak with several of the team members from various departments. They learned about Sales, Parts, Service, and many other career opportunities that are available to them. Business Partners help us show the students what they are learning in the classroom can be taken to their future careers.

The Evergreen - SISD Research and Retail Greenhouse isn't just for high school plant and soil science studies. Students of all ages visit the greenhouse for field trips. Taking the educational experience a step further, these field trips are designed and taught by high school students pursuing the teaching and training P-Tech pathway!
It's a win-win!

We know Thanksgiving has come and gone, but the memories will last a lifetime! Have you read the story, "Stone Soup"? Ms. Arredondo's students and other Pre-K classes at Snyder Primary Elementary School learned about this European folk story. Hungry strangers convince the townspeople to share a small amount of their food in order to make a meal that everyone enjoys. What a great lesson about friendship and working together!

Twenty families in need will receive Thanksgiving food boxes thanks to the SHS Tiger Hearts Club. Students raised $471 dollars and collected 168 cans for the 20 families and the local food bank. The students decorated and packed the boxes with the donated items and provided a turkey for each family.
The Tiger Hearts Club is led by their sponsor, Coach Michael Widenor. "I am very proud of our kids...there is nothing quite like a Snyder Tiger kid," said Coach Widenor.
